NAGPUR: The Kharip sowing operations have made tremendous progress in the entire Vidarbha region after satisfactory amount of rainfall both here and Amravati.
In Amravati division, all the 56 talukas in five districts including Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldana, Washim received good amount of rainfall.
Forty four talukas received cent percent rains while 10 talukas received between 80 to 100 per cent and two talukas got between 60 to 80 per cent rains, official sources said.
Kharip crop sowing has been taken up on entire 32.59 lakh hectares of agriculture land till early this week.
Similarly in Nagpur division, 42 talukas out of 64 from six districts of Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Bhandara and Gondia have noted 100 per cent rains. Twenty talukas recorded rains between 80 to 100 percent.
Eighty three percent sowing has been completed. About 14.73 lakh hectares of agriculture land out of 17.69 lakh hectares have been covered.
Paddy sowing is in full progress in ‘rice bowl’ areas of Bhandara and Gondia, official sources added. – PTI
