Nagpur: A three-member team from Singapore’s Changi airport is coming to Nagpur to survey the facilities at the Dr Ambedkar International Airport. This is the team’s second visit to the city.

Nagpur: A three-member team from Singapore’s Changi airport is coming to Nagpur to survey the facilities at the Dr Ambedkar International Airport. This is the team’s second visit to the city.

Last month, Changi Airport International Private Limited (CM) teamed up with the Tata Group to bid for the modernisation of Kolkata and Chennai airports. The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) which has undertaken the Mihan cargo hub project here is in talks with the Singapore company for assistance in efficient airport operations.

Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh and a team of bureaucrats including MADC managing director R C Sinha visited Singapore to woo investors to Nagpur. CM’s interest in Nagpur airport was a result of interactions between the state and Singapore government officials. MADC general manager Ramesh Yaul said the company’s aviation advisor VS Mulekar will interact with CM vice-president N G Tim Peng and two other officials. The team will meet Sinha in Mumbai later So far CAl and MADC have not signed an agreement. “We would like to receive their assistance on issues related to airport maintenance and management. This would increase the airport efficiency, optimal utilisation of staff and improve facilities,” said a MADC official.
